Jo’s Trust, the UK’s only dedicated cervical cancer charity, has won a Highly Commended GlaxoSmithKine’s IMPACT Award. The Awards have been running since 1997 and are designed to recognise and reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve people’s health.
Over 350 applications were submitted by national and local charities, all of which demonstrated an energetic commitment to the health and wellbeing of their communities from which 20 organisations were shortlisted.
As a result of winning this Award Jo’s Trust will receive £5,000 which will go towards funding its vital services and education campaigns. An additional bonus is that the charity will be part of an IMPACT Awards Development Network, which will provide a range of opportunities including leadership training, organisational development, working with health commissioners, gaining funding and developing networks with other award winners.
Robert Music, director of Jo’s Trust said, “We are absolutely delighted to have one a Highly Commended IMPACT Award. Just over a year ago our strategic plan was launched with targets to grow all aspects of our work and thus ensure we reach and support more people affected by cervical cancer. This award demonstrates that we are going in the right direction.”
“I would like to convey our thanks and congratulation to the team, our trustees, volunteers, fundraisers and supporters whose input, effort and support has allowed us to gain this recognition and vital assistance to achieve even more in the fight against cervical cancer.”
