Let's Meet 2011 - Birmingham

On the 15th October 2011, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust held the 8th Annual Let’s Meet at the Thistle Birmingham City Hotel. This year we focussed on issues related to life after a diagnosis of cervical cancer.

Let's Meet 2011 was designed for women who have been affected by cervical cancer using feedback from previous events. We wanted women to connect with others affected, share experiences and make new friends.

Jo Judges from Macmillan Development Manager for Pan Birmingham Cancer Network gave our keynote speech on the National Cancer Survivorship Initiative. Attendees selected to go to workshops on acupuncture, HRT and the menopause, relationships, Ask the Gynae-oncologist, recently diagnosed, nutrition and late effects and survivorship. We also ran a special workshop for family and partners only. The discussion from this workshop will help develop the information and services that the charity provides for partners and family members.

The day had a fantastic buzz and there was a lot of laughter and a few tears. Thank you to everyone that attended, you helped to create a supportive and safe space which made a really amazing Let's Meet!

You can see pictures of the event on our facebook page.
