About the play
Set in an English country house in the 1920s, Hay Fever is a delightful comedy of manners and, since its first production in London in 1925, has become one of Noel Coward’s most popular plays. It tells the story of the eccentric Bliss family and their outlandish behaviour towards their weekend house guests. Their self-centred behaviour finally prompts the guests to flee, whilst the family themselves are so engaged in a domestic row that they don’t even notice that they have left!
About Theatre in Trust
Theatre in Trust was established in 1980 by a group of friends who enjoyed performing and wanted to support charities at the same time. Over the past 30 years, hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised for good causes. The company has a strong link with Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust as James Maxwell, one of its founding members, set up the charity after his wife Jo died of cervical cancer aged just 40 in 1999.
