Prep and scan before treatment start

Hi lovelies

this is going to sound like probably the most pathetic question you've all ever been asked but it's my birthday next week, I'm in the stage of waiting for my PET scan, seeing the chemo nurse and my appointment for the kidney test, which could all come at any point now.

am I stupid for trying to have one last pamper eg my tan and nails done this weekend incase any appointments arrive?
I know I sound ridiculous but trust me if I need scrub this tan off to make sure it doesn't affect my scans or tattoos for radio I will

sorry to sound so trivial 🙈

Hey lovely,

doesn't sound ridiculous at all, do it, pamper yourself and enjoy every second, I have no idea whether fake tan can affect tattoos but I'm sure it will be fine they are tiny little dots after all.
My hair went from blue to pink to red to white throughout treatment, in these difficult times it's good to be kind to yourself and keep as much normality as you can.
The only time fake tan might be an issue is maybe once treatment starts, if it has any metal in it as I was told to avoid all creams with metal I'm not sure if this is something to do with the images they take at the start of every radio or not. I really didn't ask a lot of questions it seems looking back now lol

I hope you have a wonderful birthday, and get spoilt rotten!
loads of love and hugs xxx

Thanks for your response Emmz

honestly I felt a bit stupid asking but I don't really want anything to hinder me getting my prep all done as soon as possible. I'll be sure to keep an eye aswell on my creams and stuff actually, you don't really think to look into the metals that could be in it until you're told I suppose.

im defo going try to at least enjoy my birthday, thank you so much for the wishes aswell.

By all means go for the nail pamper but personally I wouldn't do the tan.  Radio can be harsh on the skin  - I started moisturising with Aveeno (recommended by the radio team) ahead of time and had no skin problems throughout.   My ideal pre treatment pamper would be a body massage with some good oil - tho's not sure if that's obtainable from a professional at the moment?

Take care and have a great birthday

Kizzimart , I would probably hold off on the tan. Especially since they're most likely gonna want to do some lab work before you start treatment and at the pet scan you will need a iv, and when they set up the iv they always wipe you down with rubbing alcohol on your arm . That would strip the tan right off on that spot. Going through treatment I was a pale mess and it took me awhile to get used to looking at myself, I usually use gradual sunless tanner, but figured it would get messed up with chemo every week with the alcohol anyways. But if you did want some last color for your birthday, maybe do a tanner on just your legs chest and arms and skip the pelvis stomach area in case there's any irritants in the tanner if you're gonna start treatment shortly. And you absolutely do not sound stupid at all, I made sure to get a pedicure right before my treatment started. Good luck with everything, and enjoy your birthday. Happy Birthday!

Thank you both for your advice it means a lot, I think I'm going skip the tan for now as my PET is now on Wednesday so I'd rather know I can get that done lol.
