No periods after Trachelectomy

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone has experienced absent periods since a Trachelectomy? I had my surgery 15mths ago and not had a drop of blood since.
I have had many tests and scans and a few different opinions. It would be great if anyone has any advice for me from pervious experience.

Many Thanks

I haven't had a Trachelectomy but I haven't bled since I had my first session of chemo and I haven't bled since (I finished my treatment at the beginning of October). I think it's a normal thing

Hi there. Sorry to hear you are having issues. I had a trachelectomy too. Can I ask what tests you have had done? Also do you still get cramps/PMS still each month?

October 2014 - Severe dyskorosis

December 2014 - Lletz

January 6th 2015 - Diagnosed 1B1 squamas cell cancer.  Poorly differentiated

February 6th 2015 - Radical Trachelectomy with lymph node removal.  2 weeks later ALL CLEAR!

Having 3 monthly checkups including smears, internals and occassional MRI's

Hiya,

I have had loads of ultrasound scans and mri's to see if I'm retaining blood.  They have all come back clear. I've also had several different drugs to try and stimulate the lining of the womb as its not changing but it's not responded.  I am currently waiting for an op to have a look inside the womb.

Hi Jungie,

How did your op go? Have your periods resumed?

I had a trachelectomy in January 2016 and have not had a period yet. I've had several follow up appointments and an MRI and results are all clear. Doctor continues to ask if I am experiencing "hot flashes" as if I am menopausal. That's unsettling given I'm only 32 and have no children. My doctor is bringing me into the OR next week for an ultrasound and dilation. Hopefully I'll know by then if there is an answer to this medical mystery. I must add that I lost a lot of weight after surgery and dropped down to 105 lbs (I'm 5'7 or 171 cm) and now back up to 116.6 lbs. I feel like my low weight could play a large role?? It never affected my cycles before surgery though.

I am also curious if there are others out there who have stopped having periods after a trachelectomy. Would love to learn more about your experience.

Alicia
