Waiting for Results

Hi,

I am looking for for a little help.  Can you please let me know how long you had to wait from having your MRI/CT to your staging and how you found out e.g. phone call, letter.

I was diagnosed on the 13 May (6 weeks after colposcopy) and had MRI and CT on the 29th May and as yet I haven’t heard anything.  They did say results in 10 days and it isn’t much past that but I am totally freaking out.  I jump everytime my phone goes. Part of me doesn’t want to know as I am terrified but know I need to find out at some point.

My anxiety is sky high.  Delevoping aches and pains everywhere since I found out, not sure if it is just all in my mind.  Xx

1st April - colposcopy and lletz

13 May - told cc

29 May - CT and MRI

12 June - staged 1a2, need another lletz to confirm treatment

24 June - lletz booked

Locket

Hope someone can give you some advice. I had scans on 25th May and found out the following Friday. I also had lots of aches and pains too but it was all in my head.

Really hope you get your results soon x

Hi Dee.

Personally my MRI results were quite speedy, maybe just over a week. But it does depend on the hospital. Your results have to be discussed with your MDT team and it will depend what day they meet as well.

I was told via a phone call from my cancer nurse which I had asked her to do after I got diagnosed. But I think think if I hadn’t asked for results via phone it would have been a letter. If you have a cancer nurse then it might be an idea to give them a ring if it’s giving you a lot of anxiety

As for aches and pains I think I can speak for a lot of ladies when I say that it’s normal. I think you can just become hypersensitive to every little twinge your body has, which is understandable in our situations.

Anyway I hope that when you do get your results they are as good as they can be.

Hi Dee

The waiting is awful eh?! I had my CT on 22nd May and MRI on 23rd May, MDT met the 29th and I got my results the same day.

It depends on when the MDT meet in relation to your scans etc. Hopefully it won’t be long.

The aches and pains are a definitely a thing for everyone in these circumstances, your mind sends you crazy with thinking.

Good luck xxx

Depends on your hospital. I’m in US. I’m able to pick up my results in person within 48 hours after a scan, or some places upload them into the patient portal. I usually get them before my doc even has a chance to look. I’m not sure how things are done elsewhere. I had a scan yesterday, I am picking mine up in the morning. Ugh! Nervous lol.
