Can’t get appointment - Covid

I got a letter reminding me of my regular servical screening was due. I can't get hold of my doctor and I've contacted various clinic around my area to try get a screening appointment. I was told they can not help me so after an hour and a half of phoning around I'm now really stressed that I can't get an appointment and it doesn't seem like that's a problem. My doctors surgery isn't even connecting any calls. How can this be allowed and how can the seevical screening clinics be so booked up that they simply "cannot help". I have had irregular results several times before so it's important to me to have regular check ups.

I'm in the UK.  Since Covid I have found the best way to contact my GP surgery is on-line via their website.  Have you tried that way?
