haemorrhage after lletz for glandular cells

hi, my name's Michelle. August last year I got abnormal results from routine smear. they managed to catch glandular cell changes which I understand are harder to catch.

i had colposcopy a few weeks later and biopsy. I was pregnant but we didn't know yet. too early to show up in test at clinic.

it was suggested I get lletz treatment but because I was pregnant 3 colposcopies were booked to keep an eye on me instead.

fast forward to 27th August this year and I get my lletz. I was told it was a bigger treatment than  usual as it was glandular, and an awkward spot.

treatment was fine and I remember thinking to myself when it was over thank God I didn't have to do that again for a while. little did I know if be back up in those stirrups in a matter of hours! It was a half hour drive home. I was getting crampier and crampier on the journey.... feeling mighty sorry for myself

was going to pop into chemist on way home, but when nearly there...i felt a little...er..leaky?

so told  himself to just bring me home.

I stood out of car and felt a gush down my leg... it dripped on the driveway..bright red blood. I rushed to the bathroom and (tmi)  it was like a murder scene. destroyed the bathroom trying to clean myself up. my pad was full, and had a huge puddle of cots swimming on the top. I sat in toilet and clots fell out of me. big ones. it took 3 pairs of pants and more pads to get myself in a fit state to get back in car (with towels under me) to go back to clinic (I rang first... they advised back to them or A&E) I thought A&E would faff about with questions and investigating wheras clinic knew exactly what to do. was quite pale and faint by time I got there. to be honest I think I'm traumatised. before I got into them i sat in their loo and lots fell out...i cried in there. my mam died from a haemorrhage although it was her liver causing hers.

they cauterised a missed spot in a crease. and bleeding stopped... I have what seems to be normal discharge now... I think? it's light pink watery? I have pelvic pain on and off. I hope this is normal too? painkillers don't do a thing

sorry for the long post... I think I needed to get it all out.

I'm scared... I don't usually get scared

has anyone else had a big bleed after lletz?

i bought a tonic today with iron as I'm tired all day everyday since.

I had an extensive second lletz with top hat for staging on glandular cell CC. It took a while on the colposcopy couch for the bleeding to stop and lots and lots of cautherising. Thankfully I was in the clinic the whole time.

It sounds like you’ve had a pretty traumatic experience. Your tiredness is likely due to blood loss, it might be a good idea to see the GP and maybe get your iron levels (Hb) checked. Eat and iron rich diet, keep well hydrated and rest. Also give yourself a chance to emotionally recover from this too. Talk it through with someone.

Hi Michelle - I had a Lletz just over a week ago under GA. I didn’t have extensive bleeding but they did take quite a chunk away. You need to take care of yourself. Light pink discharge and crampy pain is ok. However do go to your GP if after a few days you still feel rough and things don’t settle.

I was still feeling very washed out by day 6 and it turns out I have an infection. After a few days of antibiotics I feel like a different person. So listen to your body, rest up and see someone if things don’t settle or get worse.
