Has anyone else went for a colposcopy and before hand being told severe changes and then they done biopsy straight away? Didn't state what cells found or what level? - very unhelpful Dr. Said nothing.

Hi Emi

It is standard to take at least a biopsy, if not a LLETZ, when smear test results indicate severe abnormalities.

They cant tell what type of cells or what level from the smear test. That's why they take a biopsy. You will then be notified as to whether its squamous (CIN1/2/3) or glandular (CGIN).

Feb 2020: smear = high grade dyskariosis

March 2020: biopsy = CIN3

April 2020: lletz = cervical cancer stage 1b1 (1b2 on new FIGO)

May 2020: radical hysterectomy and lymphadenectomy. NED!

September 2020: first follow up. NED!

Get well soon buddy
