Should I be worried?

I was wondering if anyone could help please?

So I had abnormal cells 3 years ago and had loop treatment and HPV, my last test of cure was 2 years ago and all seemed ok and put on 3 year recall. Since November I have been bleeding in between periods around 2 weeks after my normal period I get a heavy bleed (sorry if it's TMI). I went to see my GP last week, who gave me an internal but said it looks ok but I have recieved a letter for Urgent referral and hospital have just called to say I have a scan this Friday before my appointmnet next week? Am I overthinking or owuld this be normal given the history?

I haven't told anyone as just incase it's just standard practice given that I had CIN3 a couple of years ago?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

It sounds like your GP is giving you good care by giving you a comprehensive gynae assessment; there are a number of reasons which could explain your abnormal bleeding e.g fibroids.  A transvaginal ultrasound scan (I'm assuming that's what you will be having) is a ususal procedure to investigate abnormal bleeding; I know that the thickness of the lining of the uterus can be assessed with this scan. Because your referral has been marked urgent it means you are seen within 2 weeks rather than waiting many weeks for a routine appointment; it's a precaution rather than there being a strong suspicion of anything sinister.  Of course, until you've had all the necessary tests and results there can be no promises but it's good that you're up to date regarding your cervical health.

 Hope this helps a bit?
