Queries about the new forum

Hello everyone

Was just trying to find out if I could hide my online status in my settings for this forum & couldn't see anywhere, so I thought I'd start a thread, especially if anyone else has queries about using the new forum, then we can post here......

Anyone got any ideas about if it is possible to hide the online status thing from the 'currently active users' list?

Hi does anyone know how to get the forum to fit onto your iPhone screen?! I only use this site with my phone but it is almost impossible to use with an iPhone. Don't know if there is something technical I can do? Any ideas welcome thanks

Lu-Lu, LisaGP & Toca - I am jealous of your signatures!!! Mine won't accept it when I try to amend it - it says it has too many characters????

Did you do anything to your signatures???

Hi All

We identified the signature issue so that's been added to the list.  Apologies to the ipad / iphone users too, our developers are working on this one already. I'll be able to give everyone an update on things in the morning.

Thanks

Thanks for the update Rebecca, sure it'll all come together, these teething problems are inevitable! I think it'll be great once these snags are fixed.

Well done Jo's!

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to come back to you and give you an update on where we are with some of the queries.

To make things a little clearer, I'll list the issue or concern below and what the status is currently.

  1. Ability to hide online status - this has now been resolved. In order to hide your status you will need to access your account > Edit > Online Status > Hide Profile. You will only need to do this the once as the new forum will remember each time you log in.
  2. Signature length - this is still pending but we don't anticipate this being an issue
  3. Old posts - I have been moving across some of the posts from the previous forums but at the moment they are sitting at the top of the forums rather than in the date they were last added to, please bear with us while we resolve this. Another update is that those posts that have been moved across are now unlocked and you will therefore be able to add to them now.
  4. Mobile phone users - the developers have now changed the look of the forum for these devices so that everything fills the screen (so you don't get the grey empty spaces at the sides like you do on a PC). Please view this new format and let us know what you think.
  5. iPad users - apologies I know things have been tricky for you guys so thanks for hanging on in there. Firstly please view the format as the developers have done the same for you as for the mobile phone users with the width of the forum being altered which will hopefully view better. With regards to the ability to post, we've not yet fully resolved this issue and it is number one priority on the list so we should have things sorted shortly. In the meantime, we do have some solutions for you (see the bottom of the post).

Thank you again for being so supportive of us and patient with this process as we are very nearly there with just a few tweaks to both the front of the system (the bit that you see) and the back system (the bit that we do all the moderating with). I will update you again once we are further along with things and please do continue to comment on anything that you can't find or any further queries you may have. Your feedback has been extremely useful.

iPad instructions

If you are an iPad user you will need to do the following in order to post.

  • Click reply under the last submitted post (at the moment the quick reply button at the top is not functioning as this is all part of the same problem) or tap straight into the comment box towards the bottom of the page.
  • Underneath the comment box, at the very bottom of the page, there is a drop down menu called Text Format. Tap on the drop down menu and select Plain Text and then you will be able to post as normal.
  • You will need to do this every time you post but this will allow you to still gain mutual support whilst we are resolving this issue.

Best wishes

Rebecca

Hi
not sure why you've been unable to post using iPhone. I have tested on mine and it's working. Would you mind letting me know which thread so that I can test that one specifically (you can private message me if you'd prefer.
Many thanks
