VAIN/ VIN/ AIN

Hello,

As a previous CIN girl and regular user if the forum I was wondering if you would consider a section that fits between Colposcopy and Cancer for those of us having ongoing treatment for things like VAIN / VIN / AIN?

It seems to be fairly rare and uncommon and I'm struggling to find out much about it and the treatments.

I'm potentially facing some pretty horrific surgery in the future and don't necessarily want to scare all the new colposcopy people who hopefully never need to head towards a hysterectomy and beyond.

I'm also lucky not to have to dip into the next forum down either.

I appreciate this may not be possible as there are so many variations out there but thought it was worth asking the question.

I can only echo what you hav said!! There aren't many VAIN girls out there and it'd be nice to have a section dedicated to it as it's so rare and lonely.

Ive had a large section of VAIN3 removed, but still have persistently abnormal smear results- getting a hysterectomy to get rid of potential abnormalities further up in cervix but this won't solve the VAIN issue... Let me know how you get on with Aldara, I'll likely be getting it after the hysterectomy.

Thank you ladies, I've just joined and already feel at ease.  Last year (June) had abnormal smear went for biopsy and was told that there had been abnormalities found in cervix, went for procedure and told to go back in 6 months for follow up.  Had follow up where consulatant told me that the cells were actually in vagina. I went back for results last week (vain3 oneside 2 other) and I'm now having op under ga on 7th March ....  As you have mentioned there's not a lot of information regarding Vain out there and on a visit to my gp's surgery for blood test (Monday) the nurse there hadn't even heard of the term....

Hi Ladies,

My results came back fine, no more signs of pre cancer and cancer cells.... just need to go back to have colposcopy in April...im guessing that ment the VAIN3 they found in November/Dec has also gone? I dunno its a little confusing but im going with lack of urgency so can't be anything to really worry about ...just gotta make sure i keep up with all my checks in futre....close shave!

Sending you all healthy vibes and hope your all doing ok x

however over the past two months pain in my stomach and now i can feel a lump....back to the docs later to see what they say as consultant i saw friday was strict in informing me to get it checked and no....sadly its not related to the previous operations...id convinced myself it was scar tissue.

Back to more poking and prodding

Hope your all well xx

Oh the poking and prodding is certainly no fun. Sorry you're having to have more of it. Hopefully the lump isn't related.

I'm almost at the end of my two month, twice weekly treatment with the imiquimod cream. Aside from having to go to the hospital for application it has been realitively ok. It's a bit like having a smear each time and thankfully it has got less sensitive each time I go and the lesion has almost gone. Last week I asked if I could have a look on the big screen to see for myself. It was a slightly weird experience but good to be shown how much it has improved. I can report I'm all nice pink and shiny in there!

I've also had no side effects, pain or blistering which was what I was told could happen. Most women who use the cream, tend to be treated for VIN on the vulva which seems to be more sensitive.

So fingers crossed the next biopsy in March shows signs of improvement.

Thats amazing news!!!! I will be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you :)

The Doc i saw poked and prodded me and told me i have lipomas and its nothing to worry about. The bloating aparently stress related? She has sent me also to have a blood test which is set for monday. Then she shocked me a bit by suggesting i could have a perscription for anti depressants? I have refused them.

Still waiting for news of the last colproscopy but keeping positive! have a few fun plans set in motion now.

That sound like good news too.

It's hard not to worry and stress but the fun things sound like a good distraction and something good to look forward to. I'm not sure I would want anti depressants but as long as you're finding ways to cope that suit you.

Only two more applications for me next week and then the two months of treatment are over. This week was a bit painful, but that's the first time in a while and I had a little cry but i think that's just the anxiety knowing my next op is coming up.

Fun times planned for me too, I think I need it.
