1 year on and not great results

Hello, was wondering if anyone out there has had a trachelectomy and had results back that say boderline changes???
I know normally borderline changes wouldn't be something to worry about but this must mean it might be coming back. Please let me know if you have had the same results- I'm terrified and don't want to tell anyone until I know what it means

HI jem

Just wanted to say hello. I noticed that you posted your note this afternoon, but it looks as if everyone was out Christmas shopping. It can be a bit quiet here at weekends, but I am sure one of the ladies who's had the same treatment as you will be along eventually.

I think any of us who has had treatment for abnormal cells always has in the back of their minds that little "what if it comes back" worry and you're not alone in your concern. I hope someone with more knowledge than I comes along soon for you.

abn smears Feb/Aug 07 D&C and cone biopsy Nov 07 CIN3 and polyps. Vaginal ultrasound 220408. Fibroids and ovarian cysts. Clear of CIN every year since, but cervix never recovered from the op.  It leaked blood from mid cycle until my period every month until I began menopause.  The big hole left by the biopsy took years to fill and the scar tissue still bleeds very easily at smear time.  Completely celibate since the procedure.

Hi Jem,

I to had a trachey in May and went for my first smear in august and the result came back i had dyskariotic cells there, my oncologist didnt say what stage but that they were abnormal. He had never seen this before in the hospital i attend so had to contact a Professor in Barts to see what the follow up would be. Got my appt 22nd December, in the mean time i had to have a hysterescopy to check my womb and just a small biopsy to see if there were abnormal cells in my womb but that was all fine.

I know it is a very stressful time, i was worried aswell and you dont want to tell people because you dont know what is going to happen. But try and think positive and see what you oncologist is going to recommend. If you want to mail me to ask more questions feel free. Chin up now.

Take care, Cerysxxxxxx

Thanks for the replies they really help. The annoying thing is I have just been sent a letter stating abnormal results and told I will return as usual in 3 months. I know it means I have to be monitored and it's not urgent right now but surely they must realize that a letter like this needs more information. I'm going to ring them on Monday to see if I can get more information. The first time round it was all so fast that I got through it without much worry but the thought of it coming back and going through it all again and possibly losing the chance to have children freaks me out. Last time I lost my partner therefore my home, it was an awful time and I couldn't do it again. I know i'm looking at worst case here but I suppose it's only natural and I need to find my strength again. (Sorry- I feel like such a drama queen)

You need more info, they cant just send you a letter and expect you to be ok. Thats what happened to me, i just received the letter and an appt for colposcopy, that was on the friday so had to sit on that letter all weekend, i phoned them on the monday then. Try and see if you can give them a ring a see whats going on, you cant wait for another 3 months for an appt with abnormal cells. Let me know what happens, try and stay positive though, easier said than done i know.xxxx

Though I haven't been through the same as you I don't think you are being a drama queen at all - you are entitled to a little more detail...!

Really hope you get through to them and get seen quickly,

Love K x

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies. It always makes me feel better knowing everyone on Jos is out there when needed!! I will ring on Monday and see what I can find out. I think it was such a shock (plus I saw the ex for the first time yesterday with his new girlfriend!) and I locked myself out of the house today!! The weekend isn't the best i've ever had! Anyway I can feel the strength coming back already thanks to you guys

Hi

I just wanted to say that I also has borderline changes - I have had as much of cervix removed as a trach. I just had to go for a smear three months later and that was clear. I know that it is hard but try not to worry!!!!
Lots of love

I've had some advice back from Jos medical advice- He said that I will need check ups regularly and if the abnormal cells persist then I will prob need a biopsy- much better info than what the nurse at the clinic told me-she just said " The doctor wasn't worried about the results so you shouldn't be." At least I have a bit more info now- Thanks for the replies it was a comfort having people there who knew what I was worried about.
