1 Year on From CC, severe ovary pain

I has diagnosed and treated for cervical cancer last Marh through to June (Cone biopsy and LLETZ procedure).

I have had two all clear colposcopies since then and have just been for a 6 month MRI scan (awaiting results).
over the last 6 months every time my period comes around i have been getting more and more pain in my left ovary (only ever my left). I mentioned it at my last colposcopy but the consultant didn't seem too worried.

It is excruciating around oulation and just before my period starts. It is so bad i can barerly stand and spend hours trying to soothe it with a hot water bottle or numerous baths.

I have read somewhere about ovarian cysts etc. and i am starting to get worried. My periods have been very regular since all my treatment but over the last 3 months have been more and more irregular (up to 7 days out) I am petrified that there is something wrong but know that from having cancer i am particularly likley to over react. Has anyone else had these symptoms? are they normal? What would you do?

Thanks guys for any feedback, this forum has kept me going through all of this worry so far!

Hi love.

Go straight to your GP. there's no point worrying about something you don't understand. you've been through enough recently without needing more worries!

If the Dr suspects it's an ovarian cyst you'll simply need a pelvic ultrasound (usually internal) which is really straight forward. they then have a number of options but often "drill" off cycsts (not half as scary as it sounds!!!!!!)

try not to panick but i think you have every right to demand the attention of your GP

09/09 - borderline
03/10 - CIN 1
05/10 - HPV + chronic inflamation (inaccurate)
07/10 - CIN 1
01/11 - CIN 1 (inadequate)
04/11 - normal but Dr said CIN 2
10/11 - postponed due to pg
03/12 - Colp, smear + biopsies due

Hiya
I would definitely take up the advice mentioned above & go to you GP.

However, just to ease your worries a little, your MRI will detect any ovarian cysts (mine did) so when those results are in you might know more. Also, since I had my treatment for cc (2 loop biopsies) my periods tend to be a a bit erratic, I was told by my consultants etc. that it may make my periods 'different'

BUT, I would get professional help if its as painful as you say

Best of luck xx

Sorry, forgot to mention ovarian cysts are common & usually disappear on their own (I've had 2 that both disappeared when examined a few weeks later) or are easily treatable. Please try not worry if cysts are found x

Hi there

I also get a lot of pain just on my left side and on my scan i had a cyst the size of a golf ball - consultant said it shouldnt cause me too much problem but they can take it out if necessary
