Discharge after hysterectomy

Hi

I had a hysterectomy a couple of months ago and had a bout of thrush as I was on antibiotics. I am still getting a yellowish discharge which comes and goes. Is this normal or is it likely to be another thrush infection? I am paranoid about recurrence and keep thinking something is dreadfully wrong....has anyone else experienced this? Is my system still screwed up after the op? Other than blood and backpain what else should I be looking for in terms of recurrence? I am due to see the consultant next week but I am very, very paranoid.

Thanks!

I had a hysterectomy just over 6 weeks ago and was on antibiotics following the op. I too have had thrush, still have and it seems to come and go. I spoke to the clinical nurse specialist today who said it was not unusual. Separate to that I have read that discharge can continue up to 2 months after the op, so what you have described sounds normal. It's good that you're seeing your consultant next week - you must tell him your concerns and get reassurance. The recurrence thoughts are so difficult to deal with. It's hard not to be suspicious of every twinge. I would say your system has a long way to go yet. It's only been a couple of months. We have to accept our bodies have had a huge trauma and recovery may take more time than we think.
