Hard lump in the groin

Hi ladies.
I am have had the most awful night/ morning. I was working last night, when I went to the loo and I guess was having a little scratch in the groin area (sorry for detail,I am sure you do not really want to envisage that scene!!!! ) when I felt a hardish lump about the size of a pea. Closer inpection revealed a definate lump which I can sort of feel something a little similar on the other side of my body in the groin, but it is markedly bigger. Any body else had anything like this! I am off to gps this morning. Feel so down and scared that this may be reaccurrance. I had my 3 month check at the beginning of Nov, (just the usual quick feel and look) and everything was fine then. Suz x

Hi Suzie

The most likely is explanation is an ingrowing hair. I suffered exactly what you described a few weeks after surgery, but by the time I got round to making a GP appointment it began to subside and was gone within the week.
It's only natural to panic, hope your GP was able to put your ind at rest.

Hi louise. Thanks so much for your reply.
Gp says it is a lymphnode that is enlarged..... however he said quite honestly if it was anyone else without my history that it was nothing to worry about and really felt that it was a case of, me "falling off my bike and getting a graze, inturn, knocking my confidence, in riding said bike". Got to go back in 2 weeks to see if it has got any bigger. I guess I am feeling reassured, if not a litle foolish. Suz xxx

Hi Suzie

I wouldn't feel foolish at all...I think I would be wondering why my lymph node has swollen as this could be a sign of infection. GP's are ok for general medicine, but they are not cancer specialists. If you are still concerned in a few days why don't you chek with the hospital? I know when I go for check ups they always say to contact them if I am worried about anything.

I don't mean to cause you more anxiety and it's probably nothing to worry about, but if it was me think I'd want an expert opinion.

Take care sweetheart

Hi Suzie

Just wanted to say I agree with Louise, lymphnodes usually swell up for a reason. Hopefully its nothing to worry about but if you are worried it may be worth ringing the hospital for an appointment as they are the specialists not the GP.

Sending you lots of positive vibes hunnie,

Lots of love

Just wanted to say thankyou to you lovely ladies who replied to me. I did get an appointment with my gynae oncologist (had to get passed secretary first who said he could not see me until Jan and "it doesnt sound gynae related to me"!) GRRRRR!!!! When I finally managed to talk to the specialist nurse she got me an appointment on the Mon morning. Anyway.... as it happened, after finding the pesky lump, I started to feel quite unwell generally, sore throat etc... so tht conclusion is that I have a viral infection which is causing the swelling. Dr was very nice and said I did exactly the right thing, getting it checked, so thanks again ladies for advice. :D Suz xxx

I have similar in my armpit and if I'm run down it gets really sore - funnily enough (or not) I have a bad cold and it's been sore over the last couple of days, I hadn't connected the two until you posted that.

Big hugs sweetie

Hi Suz

So glad you got it checked and was all ok. I know what I would have said to the secretary but best not write it here! Always better to be safe than sorry :D
