Moderate dyskaryosis, bleeding after sex.

Hi everyone..
I have recently had an abnormal smear. I've been told moderate dyskaryosis .. I'm going for colp on Monday. Scared to death as I have young children, I just wondered has anyone else had this result and then turned out to be ok? At the moment this is all I can think about, morning night and even when I'm asleep I'm dreaming of test results, is this normal. :( xx

Hey love

It is scary I know, I am in the same position. BUT please remember that nearly all moderate changes will turn out to be just that, and there is really good treatment. I know that your mind will wander and you will start to fear the worse, but I am trying really hard not to worry until I know there is something to actually worry about!

The colposcopy will be fine and as many girls have said it is just like a longer smear. They may treat you there and then, or like me you may have biopsies and need to wait for the results. I had my biopsies last week and trying very hard not to freak out but I still have some wobbly moments :?

Hi Hun. Sorry to hear you're also going through this nightmare. I can honestly say this is the worst time of my life so far for worrying and upset. So, you was told moderate and then at the colposcopy was told actually severe? :( did they give any indication as to how bad they think things are etc? How is the biopsy ? I'm also a bit scared for that part. Good luck. When did they say you will get the results? Thanks for you're reply xxx

Cheryl

Sorry for all the questions but did you have any symptoms prior to you're result x

The severe was only based on her opinion, she said it could be either and wanted the biopsy to confirm. the biopsy was a little nip, it really didn't hurt much at all. Whether its moderate or severe they usually like to remove it.

I think if they do see something which is worrying them they would send the results off pretty urgently.

But seriously try not to worry too much, the colp should put your mind at ease a bit more

thats fine don't worry, I had no symptoms but I did bleed a bit after my smear.

Your bleeding could be due to something alot less sinister such an erosion

Hi Cheryl,

Sorry you're having to go through this - aside from the children I know exactly how you feel! I didn't have any symptoms but can relate to the panic and fear that takes over. I know it's scary and the not knowing is the worst part, but try to remember that you're in the system and you'll be seen to as quickly as possible.

I was treated then and there at my colposcopy so didn't have any biopsies but I asked the nurse what it looked like and what she could see (I think my actual words were 'how does it look' lol) I could see my cervix on a screen but 1) I didn't know what I was looking for and 2) it seemed HUGE and freaked me out a bit lol. She was happy to tell me what she could see and explained what everything was by pointing at the screen (from what I can remember the white bits were the abnormalities).

She gave me some anesthetic before she did the LEETZ and to take my mind away from any pain I might experience I used the age old tactic of diversion - I dug my fingernails as hard as I could into the palms of my hands until she said 'ok the anesthetic should be working now'

I hope you get your appointment through soon, try and stay positive! Lots of hugs! x

08/2012 - Moderate Dysk from 1st smear (age 24.5, because the nurse told me I could get one about 6 months before turning 25 so I thought 'why not') 5/9/2012 Colposcopy & LLETZ 28/9/2012 Results - CIN 2 reaching edge of biopsy area 11/3/13 Check up smear 25/3/13 Results - NORMAL!!! Check-up smear 21/02/14 Results - Normal, no evidence of high risk HPV! Checl-up smear 14/03/17

Cheryl

I was just thinking that if the bleeding was to do with something else then they might have seen something at the smear. But she said my cervix looked healthy..
Thanks for you're advice xxx

Cheryl

Hi becky. Thankyou for you're response. It's such a scary thing to be going through isn't it. Hopefully they may tell me there and then at the colposcopy on Monday if they can see anything. What do you think the chances of this being actual cancer? Being as I've had the bleeding? Also I keep having short sharp stabbing pains in my lower abdomen. Xxx

Hi Cheryl,

It is a very scary thing. I hope you've got some support around you (but do know you've definitely got lots on here :) my boyfriend was great for the first day or so after I got my hospital appointment through, but then he'd make some casual comment or I'd see something on the tv and burst into tears (not like me at all!) and he be all like 'what are you crying for? you can't do this for a week' whereas on the phone to my mum she was much better and just let me waffle and cry.

I've only had the one colposcopy so I don't know how the usually work, but I'm sure if you ask while the nurse is looking she'll tell you what she can see.

I can't give you any odds or advice about whether it could be cancer but from everything I've read and them only finding moderate changes I'd say it was a small percentage. Your pains and bleeding could be caused by lots of other things like stress or an ectropion (spelling? my auto-correct thinks I should have written protection!)

Aww. Well my boyfriend has been great. Don't know if that's worse :( cos I keep thinking if its the worst then I will lose him. Oh it's just such a worry isn't it. Hopefully at the colposcopy I might know a bit more than I do now. I can't go on like this I'm like a nervous wreck. God only knows how people cope that have been diagnosed with it, there an inspiration the way they stay strong and positive.. Thankyou for listening Hun it means a lot that I've got some support out there. I will just keep my fingers crossed and hope and pray that everything is ok.. :) thankyou again xxx
