We have numerous projects and ideas for which we’re currently seeking funding to enable us to continue our work supporting women affected by cervical cancer and abnormalities, and campaigning to raise awareness about the importance of prevention programmes including cervical screening and the HPV vaccination.

Below are a few examples of projects for which we’d like to find funding. However, we’d love to talk to you about how we can work together to create a more bespoke, creative campaign beneficial to both the charity and your organisation. If you would like to discuss further, please get in touch by emailing CEO Robert Music on [email protected] or calling 020 7250 8311.

Training our service volunteers

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our support services. We have 35 support group and helpline volunteers who receive regular training from Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. We are looking for funding to support the training costs of these invaluable individuals without whom we could not offer vital support. It costs £450 to train one volunteer. Funding would be gratefully received to cover the training of a single volunteer, or the entire weekend training course for multiple volunteers, for example.

Patient case study videos

We are looking to build on our popular range of video case studies through producing new video content with a focus on incurable diagnosis, sex and intimacy, fertility, and pelvic radiation damage.

Helpline costs

We are seeking support for the annual costs to run our helpline which offers vital down-the-line support to those affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities. From January to July 2014 we took 440 calls, an increase of over 230% on the same period last year. Demand is showing no sign of slowing down so it’s essential that we maintain this support resource.

Information materials

Last year we distributed over 185,200 information resources and these are becoming increasingly popular with both health professionals and the public.

Let’s Meet

Let’s Meet is the charity’s flagship annual patients’ support and information day for women affected by cervical cancer. The event brings together women and their partners, enabling them to attend interactive workshops and meet others to offer shared support.

Awareness Campaigns

GP surgery education campaign

We’re looking to carry out a targeted awareness and education campaign in 6,000 GP surgeries across the UK, reaching an audience of approximately 38 million patients.

Digital GP surgery campaign

Based on a successful pilot in which 93% of GP surgeries that showed our cervical screening advert in their waiting rooms said they saw an increase in women asking to be screened, we are looking to run a longer-term pilot in 200-300 surgeries over a 6-12 month period.

Pharmacies

Pharmacies are playing an increasingly important role in public education. We are looking to run a leaflet campaign in 11,000 pharmacies across the UK. The average patient footfall per pharmacy is 50,000 per annum and the average patient visits a pharmacy 12 times a year.

Buses

We are looking to expand on successful cervical cancer prevention bus advertising campaigns we have already run across a range of cities that have shown an average increase of 75% in visits to the charity’s website and use of information services.

Washrooms

This is a fantastic opportunity to target women of a range of ages across the UK about the importance of cervical screening. Potential locations include cinemas, bars, clubs, shopping malls and motorway service stations.
