We are hosting a drop-in event for MPs in Westminster on the 29th November to tell MPs about cervical cancer and its impact, and to brief them on needs to be done to ensure more women are prevented from getting the disease.
Cervical screening attendance is now the lowest for 20 years in England and this needs to change.
How can I help?
Please email your local MPs to ask them to come to the event to find out more.
You can find out contact details for your local MP by adding your postcode into this website: https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/
Once you have found your local MP’s name and email address send them an email using the information below. Please include any information you would like to about your experiences and why you are passionate about raising awareness about cervical cancer, and don't forget to include your postal address so they know you are one of their constituents.
I support Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to supporting women affected by cervical cancer or cervical abnormalities.
Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust are hosting a drop-in reception to brief MPs about the impact of cervical cancer. It is one of the only cancers which could be eradicated, however attendance of the prevention programmes is falling and we need your help to change this.
Attendance of cervical screening is now at a 20 year low in England and in some areas just one in two women aged 25-29 are taking up their invitation for this potentially life-saving test.
I would be delighted if you could drop in to the event to find out the statistics for our area, discuss what needs to be done to tackle this and have your photo taken to use to raise awareness about the importance of cervical screening locally.
The event is Eradicating cervical cancer: drop-in event, in room S, Portcullis House, between 10am and 11.30am on 29th November.
Please RSVP to Elisabeth at [email protected] if you think you may be able to attend, so Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust can ensure they have area-specific briefings ready for you or do let me know if you would any further information.
