British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT)

British Association for Nutritional Therapy (BANT)
BANT is the largest professional body for Nutritional Therapists and its primary function is to assist its members in attaining the highest standards of integrity, knowledge, competence and professional practice, in order to protect the client's interests, nutritional therapy and the Nutritional Therapist.

British Homeopathic Association 
The British Homeopathic Association exists to promote homeopathy practiced by doctors and other healthcare professionals. The Association is able provide a list of registered practitioners in your area.

The British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) was established over 40 years ago and exists to deliver authoritative, evidence-based information on food and nutrition in the context of health and lifestyle. .

British Reflexology Association
The British Reflexology Association was founded in 1985 to act as a representative body for persons practicing the method of Reflexology as a profession and for students training in the method. The Association also aims to help promote the practice of Reflexology in Great Britain and abroad.

British Wheel of Yoga
The British Wheel of Yoga is a registered charity and is the largest yoga organisation in the country, running for 40 years. It is members-based and organised into 11 regions.

Coeliac UK
Coeliac UK is the leading charity working for people with coeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis (DH). Their mission is to improve the lives of people with coeliac disease through support, campaigning and research.

Food Standards Agency
This UK website can be difficult to navigate because of the sheer wealth of information. From the home page, click on the “nutrition” button on the menu. From there you can navigate further. Alternatively, type “recommended daily intake” into the search engine on the homepage.

General Osteopathic Council (GOC)
The GOC registers qualified professionals, sets standards of osteopathic practice and conduct, assures the quality of osteopathic education, ensures Continuing Professional Development and helps patients with complaints about an osteopath.

The Institute for Complimentary Medicine (ICM)
The ICNM is a UK registered charity that was formed in 1982 to provide the public with information on all aspects of the safe and best practice of Complementary Medicine through its practitioners, courses and research. The ICM administers the British Register of Complementary Practitioners (BRCP) which is a register of professional, competent practitioners who have all individually proved their competence to practice.

The International Federation of Aromatherapists
The International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) is the longest established organisation for professional Aromatherapists in the world. Originally formed in 1985 to act as an independent representative body for the profession of aromatherapy it is a registered charity supported by its members and friends.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This UK website contains comprehensive information about all aspects of health and ill-health. Strat on the home page and click on “health encyclopaedia”. Type “healthy eating” into the search field. This will take you among other things to a quiz to test your healthy eating knowledge and a body mass index calculator. Alternatively go to the health encyclopaedia page and click on “nutrition food and diet”.

Nutrition Society
The Nutrition Society is a membership organisation that is open to those with a genuine interest in the science of human or animal nutrition.

The Food and Mood Community Interest Company (previously the Food and Mood Project)
This web-based user-led social enterprise founded with a Mind Millennium Award in 1998 sells dietary self-help resources for individuals and groups, including a DIY Food and Mood Workshop pack and The Food and Mood Handbook.

The Holistic Cancer Care Centre - Middlesbrough
The Centre provides a range of supportive therapies to complement the orthodox treatments of surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy. Trained practitioners provide these therapies free of charge.
