All of us at Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust were deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden, unexpected and untimely passing of Dr Anne Szarewski at just 53 years of age.
Anne, who was recognised as a world leading expert on HPV was a wonderful supporter of the charity for many years. She was a vital member of our expert medical panel, supporting thousands of women over the years with thoughtful, caring, easy to understand and to the point responses to questions through our Ask the Expert Service. She also played a vital role in peer reviewing sections of our website, new publications and undertaking a range of media work on our behalf. Saying no didn’t seem to be in her vocabulary and even if she was half way around the world speaking at a conference she always found time to help those that needed it.
Her dedication, passion and care was extraordinary and she truly was a ‘one off’. A special and unique person who has been taken away far too early and we will all be worse off for this loss. Our deepest sympathies go to her colleagues, friends, family and especially her husband.
