The impact of COVID-19 has exposed the terrible strain that the NHS cancer workforce has been under for years. Alongside a number of other cancer charities, we are calling on the Government to use the Spending Review to fund the additional provision of staff to diagnose, treat, and care for cancer patients.
This issue cannot be ignored any longer. Unless the Government puts forward a fully funded plan to increase the number of staff in the cancer workforce, this crisis is set to get even worse.
At Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, we have joined with a coalition of cancer charities and APPGs to urge the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, to use the Spending Review to ensure the Government invests in the cancer workforce, including specialist nurses and diagnostic staff.
You can help us by signing this petition, sharing it on social media, and asking your Member of Parliament to support it too.
