Fundraising ideas

Not sure what to do? Whether you are fundraising at home, in school, at work or in your community, here are some ideas to help get you started.

With Friends and Family

  • Host a charity event: from a black tie ball to a gaming night or anything in between. How about a quiz?
  • Host an afternoon tea at home and ask for donations: either bake your own scones or fake it and buy some from the shops.
  • Turn your craft hobby into a charity sale. If you have green fingers you could sell bulbs or plants.
  • Spring clean and sell your unwanted items at a car boot sale or put them up on eBay.
  • Invite friends and family round for a dinner party. You could even make it a themed night with the menu being dishes from somewhere around the world.
  • If you want to work on your fitness without the pressure of a mass event you could do 50 burpee or 100 squats a day, or commit to a quick run a day.

Bake sale for Jo'sFundraise at work

    • Sweepstake. Is there a big event coming up? Choose anything from the Cheltenham races to Eurovision charge for entry and give the winner and Jo's half the prize money each.
    • Bake Sale. These are always popular at work! No-one can resist a cake or sweet treat especially when it’s helping to raise money. You can download Jo’s cake flags here.
    • Share your skills. If you have a skill like knitting or if you’re a yoga instructor teach your colleagues during the lunch hour and ask them for a donation to attend.

Fundraise in the community

      • Host a golf day. Even if you’re not already a member, speak to your local golf club and charge people a fee to come along. You can even hold a raffle on the day.
      • Bingo! Speak with your local community hall and ask to have a bingo night there. Charge a fee to play each game and the winner of the full house can receive half the pot, with the other half donated to Jo’s.
      • How’s your general knowledge? Ask your local pub if you can hold a quiz night. Charge teams an entry fee to play, you can download some quiz questions from the internet and ask local businesses to supply prizes for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last place teams.
      • Sell a skill. Are you a talented face painter? Are you good at arts & crafts? Attend your local Christmas or summer fayre and sell your skills. Let people know that you are also donating the profits to Jo’s.

Give in celebration

Are you getting married or do you have a big birthday or anniversary coming up? We are so grateful when people ask friends and family to make a donation to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust in lieu of a gift. Easily done through a virtual collection or Facebook Fundraising or even our donation page.

Jo's Trust Wedding Favours

You could even order pin badges from our shop as party favours, like Susan: "Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust gave me a source of support. Reading information and other peoples journey’s on their website gave me information and hope about my own diagnosis. So when I got engaged in February 2020 I knew I wanted to help Jo’s in some way. I had nothing but amazing feedback from our guests who thought this is a lovely idea. Some of our younger guests have also spoken to me about Jo’s since our wedding, including my husband’s niece who has spoken to me about the HPV vaccine. I’m glad I could help raise awareness and support Jo’s in my own way".

Virtual Fundraising

      • Host a virtual collection: raise money online without even leaving your own home.
      • #IGiveMy. Simple swaps can make a big difference! Whether it’s £3 or £100, Give something up and donate the cost to Jo’s. Find out more and get started here.
