Thanks for the reply :)
I didn't receive any information on this from the hospital! In all honesty the leaflet I was given has very little information on it and I was just advised to avoid baths at first while it was healing but not told how long for.
I was just keen to get out of there I think! The doctor (male!) Was not very friendly and unfortunately I have had to have a total of 3 colposcopies which he has been my doctor each time! The nurse wasn't much better and so I think I maybe didn't ask as many questions as I should have!

I agree. Not a stupid question. The after care pamphlet I got said no bath, only showers, for the first 4 weeks. I've read of people who've been told to wait 2 weeks before taking a bath, and then people like Rosehip who are told it's ok to take on straight away. It's all so contradictory and confusing! And uncommunicative health professionals don't make it any easier, do they? :x

Hi,
my info said bath or shower but no additives. Have been bathing since the heavt bleeding died off and I seem ok. How strange that you weren't given full info on discharge after your procedure.

I have been so impressed with my nhs trust so far but clearly the approach isn't consistent throughout UK.

Take care

I was told 6 weeks but in the end I waited for 4. I felt different after 4 weeks, suddenly a lot better so I took the chance. I missed baths SO much

Thanks for all the replies you've been a great help! :)
I think I might leave it another couple of weeks to be on the safe side then! Especially as I developed an infection a few days after the treatment and although the antibiotics have cleared it up I don't want to risk it happening again :(
Its strange to me that different areas should differ in the information they give out though it's all very confusing!
I wonder if I ever have to go back (fingers crossed I won't!) Should I request another doctor as I am not to happy with the attitude of the one I've had.
