Roundtable on cervical screening in LGBT+ communities: Exploring the barriers and identifying opportunities to reduce inequalities

  • Hosted by Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and the APPG on Global LGBT+ Rights
  • Wednesday 24th March, 1-2pm, Zoom

The APPG on Global LGBT+ Rights and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust invite you to an event to discuss the specific barriers faced by the LGBT+ community when accessing cervical screening and actions needed to reduce inequalities in access.

Along with the HPV vaccine, cervical screening is the best way to protect against cervical cancer and prevents over 7 in 10 diagnoses. Despite this, cervical screening attendance has largely been falling for the last two decades with over one in four women and people with a cervix not taking up their invitation.

Event speakers

Our expert speakers will explore common myths and misconceptions around screening among the LGBT+ community, this includes new research looking at the systemic barriers trans men and non-binary people with cervixes face. Following this, there will be the opportunity for a Question & Answer session.
