Eastenders' actress wins £10,000 for Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust

Jo Joyner, who stars in popular Soap Opera Eastenders’ took part in Celebrity Family Fortunes, winning £10,000 for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. The programme was aired on Saturday 10th September with Jo and her family competing against X Factor winner Joe McElderry.

Robert Music, Director of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust said, “everyone at the charity is thrilled that Jo chose to support the charity in the first place and to then win £10,000 was just fantastic. These funds will help us reach and support more women affected by cervical abnormalities”.

The character Jo Joyner plays (Tanya Jessop) has had her world turned upside down when she receives the news that she has cervical cancer after receiving her results from routine cervical screening test.

Robert Music added “It is fantastic that EastEnders has decided to highlight the issue of cervical cancer. This is a disease that affects thousands of women and their loved ones in the UK every year and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust is there to offer vital support to the all those affected, including loved ones.”
